Wilma Smith is a tour de force on Melbourne’s music scene. For many years with the MSO as Principal Violinist and Leader, she now assembles groups of musicians, her Friends: Max Foster, piano. Max won the piano category of the Young Performers Award in 2008 and now lives in the US where he graduated from the Juilliard School with a Master’s degree. Kana Ohashi, violin. Kana was a student of Wilma’s between age 14 and 18 when she won the Dorcas McClean Travelling Scholarship worth $40,000 and left Melbourne to study at the Royal Northern College of music in Manchester. Tobias Breider, viola, co-Principal Viola of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. Rohan de Korte, cello, cellist in the MSO who studied with Tobi Breider in Germany. Wonderful fun to get them together again to present a programme including the Dvořák Piano Quartet.
